Elvin is a free, independent blog written by a small group of people. We don't sell products, run ads, or have investors to please. This privacy policy reflects that: it's short, plain, and honest.
What we collect
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people use the site - which pages are being read, how long people spend, what country they're from, what device they're on. This is anonymous, aggregated data. We cannot identify you personally from it, and we don't try to.
GA4 sets cookies in your browser to track sessions and page views. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's official opt-out browser add-on, or by using a browser with built-in tracker blocking (Firefox, Brave, etc.).
We collect nothing else. We do not run any other tracking scripts, ad networks, or analytics tools beyond GA4.
The contact form
When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent directly to our email inbox. We use this only to respond to you. We do not store this data in any database, and we do not share it with anyone.
Cookies
The only cookies set by Elvin are those placed by Google Analytics. We do not set any cookies of our own. See our Cookies page for more detail on exactly which cookies GA4 sets and what they do.
Third-party links
Our essays frequently link to external websites. Once you follow a link off Elvin, you are subject to that site's own privacy policy. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the privacy practices of third-party sites.
Children
Elvin is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever materially change how we handle your data - for example, if we add a newsletter, a new analytics tool, or a commenting system - we will update this page. Continued use of the site after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
